Albuquerque, NM

  • Grove Cafe: excellent brunch
  • Old Plaza: the shops were okay, but I got a beautiful copper and turquise necklace from one of the street artists
  • Backstreet Grill: yummy street tacos
  • Central Avenue & Nob Hill Neighborhood: eclectic shopping with some really great clothing stores; my favorite place was the boutique “Toad Road”
  • Kimo: historic Pueblo Art Deco theater located in downtown
  • La Cumbre Brewery: a very cool taproom in an industrial part of town; they even had food trucks out front
  • Mine Shaft Tavern: we had to drive thirty minutes down a questionable backroad to get to this restaurant in Madrid, NM, but it was totally worth it; the green chili cheeseburger was great, but the “Mad” Green Chili Margarita was the most unusual and delicious thing we tried
